简 历:朱经武(Paul C. W. Chu),著名美籍华人物理学家,中国科学院外籍院士、美国国家科学院院士、美国艺术与科学学院院士、俄罗斯工程学院院士。研究方向为实验固态物理学:高压和低温下的超导、磁性和电介质;寻找新型超导体;解开高温超导(HTS)背后的机制;提高温度系数(Tc);开发HTS的实际用途。美国休斯敦大学物理学教授、天普科学讲座教授;休斯敦大学德州超导中心首位主任、首席科学家;Materials Today Physics的编辑委员;曾任香港科技大学第二任校长、台湾综合大学系统校长。荣获美国科学家最高荣誉的国家科学奖、马蒂亚斯奖及约翰弗里茨奖。
题 目:The HTS/LH2 Energy Super-Highway: For the Sustainable Economic Development of China and Beyond
摘 要:Renewable energy will play an increasingly important role in the development of a sustainable economy. However, the ubiquitous application of renewable energy is inhibited by its spatial and temporal characteristics. The recent progress in high temperature superconductor (HTS) processing and in solar and wind power generation makes it an opportune time for the deployment of the HTS/LH2 super energy highway for renewable energy storage, usage, and transfer. Such a super energy highway will transfer a large amount of electricity without loss over a long distance and a large amount of hydrogen for chemical stock and fuel cells. At the same time, it serves as a renewable energy reservoir, smoothing out its spatial and temporal variations. In this presentation, I shall discuss the perspective and status of the development and deployment of the HTS/LH2 energy super highway.
