Brief introduction to MCCOC



The Myanmar Chinese Chamber of Commerce (MCCOC) was founded in 1909. Since the beginning, MCCOC has been helping Overseas Chinese business community in Myanmar to resolve business conflicts, promote friendship among the Overseas Chinese compatriots, and handle relevant foreign affairs concerning foreign countries or nationals. MCCOC thus bears great responsibility to protect the rights and benefits of Overseas Chinese Entrepreneurs, and had established good reputation and prestige among the Myanmar Overseas Chinese community. In the 1930s, the name was changed from “缅甸中华商务总会” to “缅甸华商商会”. In 2015, in order to keep up with the worldwide name of the modern era , The Chinese name of MCCOC was again changed from “缅甸华商商会” to “缅甸中华总商会”. 
MCCOC is one of the most venerable and influential institutions among the Myanmar Overseas Chinese community, and is also the only legitimate institution recognized by the Myanmar government as the sole representative of Myanmar Overseas Chinese business community. The founding chairman was a well-known official legislator in the then legislative council. Based on business operations, MCCOC focuses on economic development and business promotion, while providing different investment information and business consultation service, contributing to charity work and public welfare, promoting economic development and prosperity of Myanmar, and enhancing people-to-people friendship between Myanmar and China. 
Currently, MCCOC is located in Yangon, the commercial capital, which is the largest commercial metropolis in Myanmar. MCCOC also has a branch institution in Mandalay, the second largest economic metropolis in Myanmar, which is called the Northern Myanmar Chinese Chamber of Commerce. Members of MCCOC include real estate developers, industrial manufacturers, travel agencies, forestry and logging industry, mining business owners, bankers, importers and exporters, restaurant franchise owners, hotel owners and so on.
In December 2015, MCCOC was awarded a license of the “Myanmar Overseas Chinese Service and Help Center ” with the full trust of the Overseas Chinese Affairs Bureau of the State Council, P.R.China. MCCOC thus become one of the first 18 Overseas Chinese Service and Help Centers awarded worldwide and shall continue to provide charity service, education and medical treatment for overseas Chinese living in Myanmar.
